Ways to reduce pests in your kitchen

Here at Northeastern Exterminating we try to go above and beyond our goal. A customer will hire us to get rid of the mice, roaches, ants or rats they may be having a problem with. After we service the customer we try to give them a few tips on how to further keep any unwanted pests our of their kitchens. Here below we have a few suggestions for you. After you hire someone to rid your home of pests follow these tips to ensure a pest free kitchen.

  1. Make sure kitchen cabinets are clean. Periodically, try to keep your cabinets clean of any spilled food debris. Once a month take out all foodstuffs from your cabinets. Throw away any unused expired food. Use a crevice tool attached to a vacuum to remove any leftover crumbs. Use a mild detergent cleaner to wipe your cabinets clean. If you have clean cabinets, the pests will have no reason to linger.
  2. Use sealed glassware for food. Any cereals, rice, or grain products are better stored inside a sealed plastic or glass container. Because roaches like to live and hide inside cardboard this will prevent harborage for roaches. Also, mice cannot bite through glassware.
  3. Clean all dishes in sink. Standing water increases instances of vermin. If you rid your home of any standing water sources it will reduce infestations. Remember, water is life sustaining to every living thing. No water, no life.
These are just a few tips to keep your home free of pests such as mice, roaches, ants, rats and more!
